New Pompey Home Shirt? Are You Kidding?

Well supposedly, here is the new Portsmouth 09/10 home shirt!
Is it bollocks! This shirt is just the current home shirt with a new 'photo-shopped' sponsor and colouring this seasons gold areas on the shirt in to white areas.
This picture has been rotated around the Internet for a few months now, and has been the worst looking version of our new shirt. I'm expecting a new sponsor to replace OKI so the below shirts won't be an option. Most likely a sponsor linked to the great 'Doctor' if his takeover is completed.

Well I'm not sure about any of those, I have seen another one which includes a red bit on top of the traditional blue, but can't find the image.

Coppell to become next Pompey manager?

After failing to secure promotion for Reading last night after losing out in the play-offs, Steve Coppell stepped down from the manager's seat at Reading, creating a perfect manager for Pompey next season.

Coppell did a superb job with Reading in the Premier League, and although he may not have too much experience in the department of where we want to be heading (up the Premier League table), he may be able to get the best out of a low budget squad, with funds low at Pompey at the moment.

Although Coppell once left Burnley for not having enough funds, the main backing of a squad is already at the club, providing they are willing to stay at Fratton Park next season.

Crouch, Johnson, Kranjcar, although all being linked with a move away, are rated as the backbone to Pompey's squad, and Steve Coppell would relish at the opportunity to play with these players.

Rumours have circled that Peter Storrie is on his way to Reading this morning, but whether he'll be latched up yet is another thing, is Hart the right man for next season, or should we capture Coppell.

Whatever happens I think Brian Kidd needs to stay as Assistant Manager because of his experience at top clubs!

Pennant - Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Portsmouth's on-loan winger Jermaine Pennant will be return to Liverpool when his contract runs out at the end of the season, but will he be staying at Liverpool?

Pennant is also out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season, and is yet to be offered a new deal. But can we tempt him to stay at Pompey?

Despite him not starting all the time and the position we have been in, fighting for relegation, he may like to stay at Fratton Park, because he now knows the staff, knows some of the players, and will always get a good reaction from the Fratton Faithful.

I'm not sure how high his wages will be, but if we can keep Johnson as well, a right side of Johnson and Pennant would be a killer for crossing balls in for Crouch, as long as we can find the big man a strike partner.

Pennant's old club Birmingham City have also been promoted to the Premiership through the automatic promotion places, so that would also be an option for him.

I personally think he won't stay at Liverpool, or if they will even offer him a new contract, because of the lack of appearances, but whether we can tempt him to Fratton Park or not is a different issue.

Nlundulu to sign professional contract?

Portsmouth's young French ace Gael Nlundulu is set to sign a professional contract at Pompey following a great season for the player.

Nlundulu signed from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and also was a regular for the French U-17 outfit before turning 18 this year.

Although many Pompey fans may have not seen the young gun play, I was fortunate to see him play for Portsmouth reserves against Stoke back in March, and was very impressed, and he teared up the Stoke defence, including Andy Griffin.

He looks like a great player for the future, and along with Pele who I hear is a great asset for the future, along with Torric Jibril.

The rumours within the French press claim that Gael has signed a contract until 2011, and I would personally like to see him feature in the first team.

If John Utaka can make the first team, take the ball round the keeper and miss the open goal in two successive games, and miss a penalty as badly as he did on Saturday, then I think Nlundulu should definitely be given the chance.

Kranjcar committed

The news that Niko Kranjcar is up for the fight to keep us in the Premier League, and is committed to Pompey if we keep our Premier League status is absolutely superb.

There were a lot of worries surrounding Niko moving in the summer.

Rumours of a move to Panathinaikos, Arsenal, Spuds, and a few more, but Niko has in fact come out saying that he hasn't been approached by anyone yet, he is not fussed about Panathinaikos, and is entirely committed to playing for Pompey as long as they are in the Premiership. 

He also believes that we will definitely stay in the Prem, and doesn't think it is a worry at all!

Although we could probably make a nice little profit from selling Niko in the summer, I think he is a great acquisition in our midfield, and if we can build up this midfield around Niko and Sean (Davis), as well as introducing a new attacker to the picture in the summer, then we can once again, be challenging for a place in Europe.

Kazim-Richards to Fratton Park?

Today's hot gossip for transfer news lies in the form of Colin Kazim-Richards, formally of Sheffield United, currently playing for Fenerbahce.

Pompey are reportedly ready to make a £3m bid for the striker, to fill the boots of Jermain Defoe after he moved to Spuds in the summer.

The 22-year old is thought to be on the books at Hull City as well as Pompey, so a fight for his signature may be on when the transfer window opens.

The London-born star has been playing in the UEFA Champions League for Fenerbahce this season, but is dying to get back in the Premier League, and Pompey could be his route!
